Sandra M. Hudson

Sandra brings a distinctive international perspective, multilingual fluency, and deep experience in dispute resolution to her family law practice. Her background in negotiation and mediation strongly informs her client‑centred approach, and she is committed to resolving family law matters in a solution‑focused, efficient, and non‑adversarial manner whenever possible. Where litigation is required, Sandra engages strategically and has argued successfully before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Court of King’s Bench, and the Alberta Court of Appeal.

Sandra articled in both immigration law and family law and has devoted her practice exclusively to family law since being called to the Alberta Bar in 2002. Prior to joining Kirk Montoute Dawson LLP, she was a partner at WK Family Lawyers LLP. Sandra has a nuanced understanding of both domestic and cross‑border family law issues, particularly those involving mobility, parenting arrangements, and complex family dynamics.

Born and raised in Germany, Sandra completed her early university studies at Ruhr University in Bochum before performing volunteer work in Honduras. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) in Spanish and International Studies from Macalester College in Minnesota and her Juris Doctor from Hamline University. Sandra immigrated to Canada in 1998, and her international background continues to shape her empathetic, culturally informed approach to resolving family disputes.

In addition to her legal practice, Sandra is actively involved in the legal community and has contributed to access‑to‑justice initiatives through pro bono work and leadership roles within professional organizations. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her three sons, traveling, running, and practicing yoga.
