Professional Summary

Wanda Dawson is a partner at Kirk Montoute Dawson LLP and has practiced family law since 2000. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Society, an Honours degree in Sociology from the University of Calgary and earned her LLB at the University of Alberta in 1999.

A trusted advocate and advisor, Wanda combines deep legal knowledge with a practical, compassionate approach to help families navigate separation and divorce with dignity and efficiency.

Wanda is an experienced lawyer, mediator, arbitrator, and parenting coordinator. She believes that Alternative Dispute Resolution is usually the best path for clients (promoting amicable, cost‑effective, and timely resolutions) while remaining a skilled and passionate advocate in court when litigation is necessary. She has successfully argued matters at every level of court in Alberta.

A leader in the family law community, Wanda previously served as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s Family Law Section. She has taught interest‑based negotiation at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Law, and through the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education, and has taught mediation with the Legal Education Society of Alberta. She maintains extensive training in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, parenting coordination, and advanced family law, and demonstrates a strong commitment to continuing education by attending numerous conferences and seminars each year.

Above all, she is dedicated to protecting her clients and their children from the conflict and financial impacts of separation
